Diegression was forged in the early 2000s out of the raw, unrelenting energy of the Washington, DC metal scene. Currently fronted by the commanding vocals of André Arrington-Payton, the five-piece lineup — Andy Cardillo and Robby Rule on guitars, Scott Fitzgerald holding down the low end on bass, and Sandy Hinden behind the kit — came together with one purpose: to hit hard and leave a mark. From the jump, Diegression built their reputation the old-fashioned way — on stage, in your face, night after night.
The band's sound is a punishing hybrid of Nu-Metal, Thrash, and Groove Metal — thick, churning riffs layered over thunderous rhythm work, punctuated by vocals that shift from a guttural roar to a razor-sharp edge. Diegression doesn't chase trends; they carve their own lane with a sound that's equal parts brutal and infectious. Every track hits like a freight train with a groove you can't shake, blending the aggression of Thrash with the head-down swagger of Groove Metal and the sonic grit of Nu-Metal's golden era.
That sound earned them spots on stages that matter. Diegression has shared bills with heavy-hitters including Non-Point, Dog Fashion Disco, The Hidden Hand, Filth, and Black Water Drowning, holding their own and then some. A highlight of their run came with a performance at the legendary 9:30 Club in Washington, DC as part of the prestigious Emergenza Festival — a stage that separates the serious from the rest.
